Aditi Rao Hydari biography



Aditi Rao Hydari is an Indian actress who works in Hindi and Tamil films. She began her acting career in the Indian film industry in 2006, with her debut film Prajapathi. Since then, she has appeared in a number of critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, including Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), Rockstar (2011), London, Paris, New York (2012), and Padmaavat (2018). She has also appeared in several Tamil films, including Sringaram (2007) and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018).


Hydari was born in Hyderabad, India, and is the grandniece of the last Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Osman Ali Khan. She began her career as a classical dancer and trained in the Indian classical dance form of Kathak. She then made her acting debut in 2006 with the Malayalam film Prajapathi and later appeared in several Tamil and Telugu films.


Hydari has received several awards and nominations for her performances, including a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) for her role in Yeh Saali Zindagi and a nomination for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Rockstar. She has also been honored with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government for her contribution to Indian cinema.


In addition to her acting career, Hydari is also actively involved in charitable causes and is a Goodwill Ambassador for Smile Train India, an organization that provides free cleft lip and palate surgeries to underprivileged children.

In 2018, Hydari starred in one of the most successful films of the year, Padmaavat, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, where she played the role of Mehrunissa, the wife of the villain Alauddin Khilji, she received widespread praise for her performance in the film.


Apart from acting, Hydari is also passionate about music and has lent her voice to several songs in films, including a song in the film Wazir and a song in the Tamil film Mani Ratnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
